Employees have no idea. Buyers also have no idea half of the time.

We only purchase direct from the factory stores, and we get complaints for fakes all the time. Funny, I just purchased the bag yesterday at the Gucci store personally, it never left my sight all day til I shipped it to you.

I have also sold thousands of Gucci bags, and am pretty sure I can tell what's real and what's not. But I'm sure you are right, because your cousin got one for her bday and yours just "feels different" ;)

Guest

On the same token, sometimes Buyers complain about fakes without having a clue. We sell around $1 million per year on various platforms, and get approximately 50 complaints of fake per year.

Mind you, we purchase inventory direct from the manufacturers and have receipts for each bag (Gucci, Michael Kors, Burberry, etc.) It's extremely frustrating experience having to deal with know it all buyer that "felt" that the bag was fake. Sometimes they claim they took it to a store and they told them it was fake. Hilarious. Most of the time is "my cousin has one and this one feels different" type of thing.

My favorite one, however, is the "I brought it to Macy's and the employee there told me it was fake"... Half of the time the employees at Gucci and Michael Kors have no *** idea what I'm talking about when I'm at the store asking for models and colors. They got a job 30 days ago, and go back to college next month. I've sold bags millions of their bags...

I only wish Buyers did a little research before they cried "fake" all the time.

I started sending pictures of complaining Buyers, with me holding the bag and the receipt at the store, next to the shelf with all the other bags while shaking hands with the GM.

Guest

It's true - people who work at Gucci and Versace are only salespeople, and are not qualified to authenticate merchandise. I called Versace personally in the past, and the lady told me this.

Bottom line - you have to know what to look for. There are so many fakes out there, and so many people don't know when they're being ripped off.

***, sometimes sellers don't know they're selling a fake! They bought it from a second-hand store or on eBay and think it's authentic.

Guest

I also believe their authentication process is a joke. Tradesy does not want to resell a high end bag and return your money so 9 times out of 10 they will say the bag is real. My advice DO NOT buy a luxury brand on Tradesy unless you want to run the risk of losing your money.

Tradesy scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had a brand new designer bag up for sale. Never used with tags still on it. Had a customer want to purchase it. The customer told Tradesy the chains on it were tarnished. They emailed me and I emailed them back and said , no they are not. The bag I sent was in perfect condition, never used, kept in the duster bag. They credited back the buyer. 10 days later, I received the bag in the mail. It was not the same bag! I let Tradesy know and after many e-mails back and forth ( they only e-mail in customer service- you cannot speak to a human! Nothing has been resolved! I last an original handbag and their reply was to resell the one I got back on their site! Beware of this company! They allow scam artists to switch out authentic bags for fakes!

I agree. Their authentication department name Brandon Hogen is very inconsistent and does not know what he is doing.

When you sell anything on their e web it goes to a screening process by their authentication department for fimal approval Brandon from the authentication department approves it, if buyer returns and says it is fake tradesy gives buyer full refund and you are out of your money. This company is not good and a lot of scam artist that gets away with it as this company do not know what they are doing.

Interesting - I saw a Cartier on there just now, I actually have the same model watch (just different in terms of gems etc)., and it doesn't look like this one, in fact, I never saw one that looked like that Cartier, extremely odd. And it was about 3x the price I paid for one that was almost new with a new strap.

I initially was looking at a Pasha, but after I saw the other Cartier that looked off, decided to go in search of reviews, and here I see problems. Think I will pass.

Guest

Well --- I was going to do business with this company,

but after your review, certainly not. Thanks for the

heads up.

Same thing happens on e-bay. You get

a cookie jar back with "their" damaged lid.

Thanks

Guest

SOOOOO glad I read the complaints before deciding to do business here!!! THANKS!!!

I actually spoke to a live person and they were very helpful and gave me extra discounts on items sorry for you're experience

The company has someone that will talk to you on the purchasing end. However, if you have a challenge with a product or have been scammed, they will only deal with you via e-mail. That is very concerning!

That's incorrect. Their Returns Department doesn't have phones, but customer service does.

It makes sense; everything needs to be in writing. You can always call their customer service line to explain.

Not Authentic Louis Vuitton bags

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought 2 Louis Vuitton bags for my daughters for Christmas. They do not appear to be genuine and additionally they arent as advertised, as they were much smaller than pictured.

They will not return my money and I certainly dont want to purchase another bag....they are offering store credit but I am out over $1200 and dont want another bag.

I wanted the Louis Vuitton but its not reliable so just stuck. After numerous emails they continue to just say they will give a credit only even though their returns policy says Guaranteed Authentic or money will be refunded!

BUYERS BEWARE!! Tradesy takes your money as soon as you hit purchase.

If you get something fake, or not as described, they give YOU A CREDIT, They make you buy MORE of their stuff, as if you weren't already angry, THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY!!! NO REFUNDS

Guest

they are selling super fake bags one of their picture online misspelled louis vuitton to louin vuitton and that marked on the bag already super fake dont trust this china site...

Guest

I agree. You are the one that being very unreasonable here.

Who doesn't know pictures do not reflect real sizes? Only you! And how do you know those bags are fake?

I know there are bad sellers out there but you, you are a bad buyer. For your own benefit and the rest please buy anything that you can actually see and touch.

Guest

Ad picture DOES NOT equal size in real life (have you shopped for stuff before?. Did you read the measurements?

Why would you buy stuff base off an ad picture you saw? Are you going to believe that Toyota car pictured on that letter size poster the same size as a real car? Oh come on!

How do you know they are not real? Are you an experienced handbag authenticator that specializes in LV bags?

Did you even purchase from an actual LV retail store (or high end dept stores) to begin with? There are only a few reputable authenticators in the industry that are recognized as reliable to authenticate a bag when it comes to fake/replica disputes (for all brands and even for your banks and sites like eBay and PayPal). Judging from the fact that you can't even tell the difference between an advertisement picture and an actual item, I doubt you are one.

Actual LV retail stores do offer a return/exchange policy within a period and on new items.

If you were denied a return/exchange, well then you either passed the period or used the item. And don't say you don't know because your LV SA (that's assuming you purchased from LV and not some fake site) would have asked to sign the return/exchange policy on your receipt.

Just so you know this board is a public forum for people to complain about Tradesy NOT to them, they probably don't know this place exists nor do they care. You need to call and or email Tradesy about the situation.

Tradesy does NOT mail items to the buyers, the seller does but Tradesy should help you find out what is happening. Your real problem is with the seller, have you contacted her to see what she says.

SELLERS BEWARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Sold a 100% authentic WITH STORE RECEIPT designer purse and buyer returned it claiming otherwise. In the beginning, when I first read all the negative reviews I was a little scheptical but now that I'm a victim myself, I've to believe that this website is such a scam. Sellers have absolutely ZERO protection for any kind of false authenticity claim as their "authentication team" are people without experience. For that matter I don't think they even care! Here I've an official STORE receipt with phone #s and all to verify everything and yet buyer gets to return their merchandise????????????? Ridiculous. DO NOT BUY OR SELL ON THIS SITE. Your money is better spent elsewhere. I just pulled everything OFF this website, not worth the grief and the financial loss. At least eBay has somewhat fairer protection for both buyers/sellers as they do entertain documentation.

I had exactly the same problem and I'm still in shock. I sold a Goyard that their team established it was a fake!

I have sold over 40 bags, mainly Goyards and LV, never had this problem before. I had this bag authenticated and they did not even ask me for the receipt! When I called them the person I talked to acted condescending and rude. I'm still waiting to get the bag.

It's the last time I sell with them.

Their "team of experts", at least of Goyard, have no idea. Sellers (and buyers, I saw a few replicas on their site sold which I flagged, no more help from me) be aware.

Guest

What happened after all in your case? I just had a buyer claim that the authentic designer coat I sold him was not authentic, so I'm wondering I'f I'll end up at a loss here.

Does Tradesy ship the item back to the seller if they think it's not authentic? I'm sure there will be a percent lost in a case like this, but I sure do hope they're not so *** to say the coat wasn't authentic when in fact it is.

Don't believe in eBay either I got scam by them too a customer bought and original Calvin Klein shoes from I have receipts but even that eBay stole my money

Any website has it's flaws but when you look at the number of complaints on Tradesy a relatively newer company than eBay with less traffic, their percentage of discontent sellers are A LOT higher than eBay's. I've sold on eBay for years, now and then you've some buyer issues but overall they do have a better and safer protection for both buyers and sellers than Tradesy does.

I too pulled my stuff off Tradesy after a buyer returned an item after a week, obviously was used but yet Tradesy gave them their money back. Completely ludicrous - I chalked that up to bad experience and never again.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1045647

I agree any website has it flaws and Tradesy does as well. But when you say that they have a high percentage of discontent sellers I am wondering how you know that.

If you are going by this blog there have been only 241 comments and some of them have been positive. I have looked elsewhere on the internet for comments, both + and - and have yet to find more than 1 or 2.

I am a Tradesy seller who also has had real ISSUES with them especially their jokes: "customer service" and "authenticaters" but I have learned to avoid them at all costs by no longer selling designer items. I have found Tradesy to be the best and most lucrative site I have sold on..BUT that is just my experience.

Scammers! Stay away from this site!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a counterfeit Louis Vuitton bag on this site for $599. It smelled like PVC and had no signs of wear.

It was supposed to be a used bag supposedly made in 1995. It had uneven and crooked stitches and was obviously a knockout. Sent it back immediately .

Tradesy's customer service argued the bag was authentic , they even claimed that Louis Vuitton's representative came and authenticated it.

They refused to issue me a refund and offered store credit only . Had to spent countless time on phone calls, e-mails back and forth with their customer service, threaten them with small claim court and file a dispute with my credit card issuer in order to get my money back.

Highly recommend to stay away from this site.

They're all over EBAY

they are sold as preowned to prevent scrutiny. These are very good fakes- sold by people in Japan

As a longtime seller with over 500 sales I now recommend that no one should now buy or sell high end items are Tradesy. I stop selling elite designers over a year ago, when I started to see the problems other sellers were having.

Unfortunately the site has become inundated with dishonest people, on both ends of the transactions, it was not this way when they first started. Additionally, their "authenticators" and I use that word facetiously are young, inexperienced and not "trained". I hope you have it in writing that an LV rep came and authenticated the bag, or ask them to put that in writing now. If it were me I would take that email and go to an LV store and ask them how could someone from LV claim this bag was real and/or send an email to their corporate customer service and ask if they send reps to Tradesy to personally authenticate items, because I don't believe they do.

It makes no sense, why would LV want to help Tradesy sell new items or care if they sell knock-offs as it is not their responsibility? In the end Tradesy does not want to re-sell these items as they do not turn over quickly and so they must constantly reduce the price in order to sell it, in so doing they are not covering what they originally paid the seller. As soon as you see a high end bag with "penny Lane" or "strawberry fields" as the sellers (really these sellers are Tradesy) you know this bag has been returned at least once. Also I would check that seller's history.

Finally I think it is extremely odd that you bought a "used" bag that looks new. You can go to any shoe repair shop and they can tell you if it is leather, also there are many places on the web that will tell you how many stitches the bag should have in each seam and finally look for LV's 1995 catalog or 1995 versions they produced that year.

Also if the price was too good to be true chances are this wasn't real. I am sorry for your situation and I hope you tell us what happens.

I sure wish I knew Strawberry Field was their seller but it certainly explains a lot! I returned a dress that was a bit tight but I specifically asked to be funded because there was a red wine stain...they judged it to be not a stain and gave me credit

When I comment to a post I try to remember to say that "Penny Lane" and Strawberry Fields are Tradesy, so purchasing from them is purchasing someone else's return.

Seller Beware!

Supposedly sold a dress, shipped it, customer received it then she CANCELLED THE SALE so I'm out $50.00. No recourse from Tradesy, can't post a review on the customer and they deleted my tracking number I added to prove she received it. Now I get to waste more time and go to the post office hoping they can give me a copy of the receipt so I can at least file a claim with them. They won't get back to me to resolve this issue which happened three days ago. I'm just thrilled it wasn't more money. Their business practice is a cheat, you're better off on EBay!!

Tradesy not responsive to sellers

I recently sold a Ralph Lauren genuine leather jacket. I was very excited because it is the first item I sold on this site after listing it four months ago. I did not get very much for it but it's ok since I won't be wearing it anymore. Tradesy sent me a shipping kit but it is just a cheap plastic bag and it was too small for the bulky jacket.

I emailed them asking for a replacement shipping kit, a larger bag with prepaid postage. Then I get an email saying I should use my own shipping materials and print out the prepaid label and ship the item. What? I pay them an administrative fee and I do the work?

I'm cancelling the sale as I will actually lose money if I follow through with what they tell me to do. I will remove my listings and cancel my account with them.

Yes, please cancel your account - help keep bad sellers off the site!!

You obviously didn't choose the correct size packaging when you listed the item.

Your customer was charged a lower shipping cost because you chose the incorrect packaging size.

It should be your responsibility to make up the shipping cost difference --- your mistake.

It's just good customer service.

I purchased a bag and immediately realized I had made an error. I went on Tradesy's site and followed their cancellation policy and immediately sent a nice, truthful, message to seller explaining my error and asked to have my order cancelled.

Seller replied hours later saying she sent bag out and it was too late....on a Sunday? Oddly enough she had not even confirmed the sale. A true LIAR indeed! Throughout this process, I was in touch with Tradesy and they stated they could not do anything other than accept a return by me and issue site credit!

It is IMPOSSIBLE for her to have mailed it because until she confirms the sale she CAN NOT see your address. Has it been confirmed yet?

The tracking number will show when the postage was purchased but again if the sale has not been confirmed she doesn't know where to send it to. I have over 600 sales on Tradesy and EVERY ONE has worked this way.

Ask Tradesy how to explain how the buyer could have mailed it. Please let us know what happened and about LAU, that's why Tradesy gets a lot of complaints because of these unscrupulous sellers.

Undisclosed stains

Recently bought Christian Louboutins arrived fast and were authentic to be fair but had a huge chemical stain on the outer part of the shoe (bottom side) they are gold and the big discolored stain is very noticeable. I guess this is suppose to fall under scuffs and marks but ***. Looking back at the advertising photos the shoes are posed in ways that hide this little tidbit. Smh I would have never bought this had I seen the huge stain on the side. Who wants shoes they can't wear?

Tradesy Sells Fake Bottega Venetta Bags - Stay Away

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Absolutely horrible experience. Seller described color and bag totally wrong. No authentic serial numbers, leather was more like vinyl. Color off, handles wrong.

Tradesy at first said send it back...we'll refund. We did that, and they immediately email saying it's real and they verified. They never addressed the fact the wrong color was sent and the bag's handle doesn't match any bags sold in stores.

They then offered to give a store credit for $2,000. For what? To spend on another fake bag?

Horrible experience. Out $2K for a fake $50 bag.

Stay away kids. I don't trust anything on this site.
